Green Business Features

Clark College is committed to sustainability - so much so that it has incorporated environmental integrity as one of the four core academic themes of its new Strategic Plan, which will guide the college's decisions through the year 2020. Located on a 101-acre arboretum, the college's campus has been named a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for five years in a row.

Green Facilities and Operations

Water bottle filling stations and recycling bins are located at convenient spots around the main campus, and the college engages in many sustainable practices, including cell phone recycling; fertilizer and pesticide reduction, composting, and a college-wide system for reusing surplus furniture and other items before purchasing new.

Student Engagement

The 2014-2016 Common Read (a book chosen by the college to be integrated into coursework, events, and activities) is "Garbology: Our Dirty Love Affair with Trash" by Edward Humes, a book that has begun many thought-provoking conversations around the college about how the choices we make as consumers could affect our environment.

The college's student-run Environmental Club hosts numerous activities over the course of each academic year, from sustainability workshops to invasive-species weed pulls.

In these and many other ways, Clark College is continually striving to be a greener, more sustainable partner in our community.
